Welcome to March and the beginning of Spring. Lots to talk about this month so let’s get straight into it.
Flying Dog Kujo 8.9%
Combining two of my favourite things, coffee and beer, this imperial coffee stout packs a punch of both caffeine and alcohol. It has robust roast flavours from both the added coffee and the malts which combines perfectly with the smooth hoppiness. With an extraordinarily long finish this is definitely one to savour after dinner.
St Bernardus Pater 6.7%
An Abbey ale which has all the complexity you would expect from a Belgium but at a somewhat more approachable (for an Abbey) strength. With flavour notes of toffee and fruit it is lovely served in a chalice type glass where it can be swirled to release the aromas. It might be spring but the nights are still cold and this is a beer that will warm you right up.
New Zealand Beers
Ok, so I might be slightly biased but we have just received a delivery of new kiwi beers. Here is a taste of what we have:
Renaissance Collision Course Lager 6.2%
An IPA fermented with a lager yeast this has fruity notes on top of a smooth strength.
Tuatara Outrigger Pale 4.5%
Soft and gentle with delicate tropical fruit flavours, a pale that just slips down and has you reaching for the second bottle without realising.
8Wired Hopwired 7.3%
One of the best NZ IPA’S available, passionfruit and hints of sauvignon blanc backed up by a big malty base.
Plus some very special bottles from the Yeastie boys which you will have to discover in store…..
Siren Undercurrent 4.5%
A smooth sessionable pale with the addition of Oatmeal which adds a smoothness to the mouth feel. We had this in bottles and we really enjoyed it then so leapt at the chance to get a cask of it. Expect fruity notes with a full body which surprises considering the strength is only 4.5%. Oats are often used in stouts to give a smoothness, it is unusual to see them in a pale beer so is well worth trying.
Tiny Rebel Cwtch 4.6%
It seems that you all can’t get enough of this beer from the team at Tiny Rebel. Champion beer of Britain for 2015 this hoppy welsh red ale normally goes within hours of being tapped. Don’t miss out on it, look for it on a weekend early in April.
Don’t forget if you bring in your used container or have an old flagon at home we can fill it for you and you get a saving off the normal pint price.
Love Oxted Day 16/04/16 10am-4pm
Mark the day down in your diary so you don’t miss out on the first Love Oxted Day. Featuring a wide range of different local food and drink producers setting up market stalls, this will be a great opportunity to see what is available in the local area. We will as always have a great range of beers on draught to sample so if you do feel a bit parched after visiting the market stalls be sure to pop in and see us.
Tying in with the local theme that Love Oxted day is promoting we have now put the three breweries located closest to the shop in a special ‘local’ section. Look out for established brewery Westerham alongside beers from the Oxted Brewery and The Godstone Brewers. So if you want to cut down on the food (beer?) miles these are the breweries for you.
Oxted Beer Festival
As you might know we are helping organise the beers for the upcoming Oxted Beer Festival, expect to see some of your shop favourites plus a whole selection of ales bound to become favourites. Check out http://www.oxtedbeerfestival.com/Beers to see the current beer list with more being added weekly. Get in quick if you wish to sponsor a particular barrel, all the details along with a link to buy tickets is on the festival website.
Easter is not far away so time to remember chocolate doesn’t just come in egg form. We have beers that are brewed to have chocolate notes, some that actually include chocolate in the brew and even a vanilla white chocolate stout. I know I would rather go on a chocolate beer hunt rather than an egg hunt that’s for sure!
Please note our Easter Opening hours:

Good Friday 25th March Closed
Saturday 26th March 10am – 8pm
