Happy Easter everyone.
It looks like the weather is going to be perfect for Easter egg hunts and sinking a few beers in the sun. If you are looking for an alternative to chocolate eggs or perhaps a last minute gift we have a range of chocolate beers available. Perfect for Sunday, perhaps even for a spot of beer and food pairing with an egg.
Just a quick reminder about our Easter hours. We are open as normal with the exception of Good Friday where we will be here from 10am – 5pm. The full hours are:
Thursday Midday – 8pm
Good Friday 10am – 5pm
Saturday 10am – 8pm
Easter Sunday Closed
Easter Monday Closed
Tuesday Midday – 8pm
There is plenty of draught beer available over the next few days, all the details are below plus I have a 5L keg of Oakham Citra up my sleeve (not literally) Let me know if you would like to reserve it.
The South East Asian Beer Scene
If you are travelling to South East Asia or perhaps just looking for a bit of reading material for the long weekend check out this blog from two of Ruth’s friends. It gives all the lowdown on the scene, sounds like a good trip.
Congratulations to Nick G for winning last week’s competition. There were a lot of entries (thank-you to all who participated) and Nick’s name was pulled out of the hat of all those who correctly guessed that number 4 ‘Rich and dark with a thick creamy head..’ was my quote. Nick your prize awaits; choose between a glass or the mystery can. What could it be?
Bit of a big line up this week, a couple I mentioned last week that I thought deserved more of a write up plus a selection that has arrived just in time for the long weekend.
Half Acre Pony Pils 5.5% – Crisp and refreshing pils.
Collective Arts Ransack The Universe 6.8% – Mosaic and Galaxy IPA, tropical notes with an earthy edge and big bitterness.
Amundsen Everyday Hero 4.7% – Light malt body and big hop aroma combine to make a sunshine smasher.
BBNO Session IPA Mosaic 4.2% and Pale Ale Citra 5.2% The first time we have had these beers in cans. Absolute winners in bottles and no doubt the good form continues.
Cloudwater Hoppy Little Lager 3.6% Just like it says on the tin.
Lervig Konrad’s Stout 10.4% It isn’t all light and hoppy this week. Get stuck into this formidable Imperial Stout, rich and thick…hang on that sounds like the tasting note from the competition.
Wylam / Other Half Is There Music In Your Dreams? 8.2% Wylam and the New York masters of haze combining their talents to brew a DIPA; what more could you want?
