If you are reading this Thursday (15th) evening then try and find an excuse to get out and enjoy the Oxted Christmas Event and of course come and have a pint with us. Two cask and two keg beers plus mulled cider is waiting for you.
One of the highlights of our beer year is the arrival of Christmas beers to the shop and happily they are now in stock. Normally strong and warming they are great fireside sippers and are also a fun stocking filler. Currently we have the pictured available with more to come. Now, without trying to do a hard sell on you all I just want to stress that these are strictly limited in quantity so if you are in the shop and see one you like purchase it! Chances are that if you wait until Christmas week it would have sold out the day before.
Speaking of Christmas next week is a busy week for us as we are taking Hop Stop on the road. Find us at these Christmas Fairs
Chartwell Christmas Market Thursday – Sunday
Chiddingstone Christmas Fair Friday – Saturday
South of England Winter Fair Saturday -Sunday
So yes, a very busy time next week.
Don’t forget we have a part time position available over the busy Christmas period with the opportunity for more work in the New Year. Please get in contact if you are interested.
The return of two old favourites and something special from Time and Tide.
Lost and Grounded Keller Pils 4.8%
Keller Pils was good when we had it in bottles last year and now in cans I am pleased to report it is tasting even better. Crisp and bitter but still smooth Keller Pils is equally rewarding as a straight forward refresher or as a sipper that you give more thought to. So good that it has only been in the shop a few days and I have had a couple already – just to make sure of course.
The Kernel IPA Centennial Mosaic Citra 7.3%
It has been a while since we have stocked Kernel so we have ordered up and they are back with a bang. First out of the blocks is this IPA which is a typical Kernel IPA. Clean, light malt body which allows the hops to shine through. A little bit of citrus, a zing from the Mosaic and a lingering bitterness which is balanced out by a sweetness which I suspect comes from a little of the sugar used not completely fermenting out. Solid and enjoyable as ever. Look out for the light Table beer, various pales and a range of dark beers from Kernel in the shop over the next few weeks.
Time and Tide Juno 5.7%
They might be best known for their pales and IPA’s but Time and Tide also have a strong line up of barrel aged beers of which we will be bringing you a selection over the next few months. Starting with Juno which is a ‘bretted Petit Saison Red Burgundy Barrel Aged with blueberries’. Quite a mouthful to read out and quite a mouthful to drink as well. A reddish hue it has a touch of funk and a definite red wine note, tannic and warming but still light. To be honest I didn’t really get any blueberry and thinking about it what do blueberries taste like anyway? Perhaps they are just there for colour. I would recommend this as a palate cleanser during a hearty meal, ideal for the festive season ahead.
